GRIMALDI GROUP NAPLES is one of the world’s largest privately owned shipping companies. The Group has established over 50 years ago in Italy by the Grimaldi family, who are still active in the company, and has expanded to become one of the leading operators of specialist liner services covering the entire Atlantic and Mediterranean range.

Grimaldi Group Naples was one of the pioneers of the roll on/ roll off concept and currently has one of the largest and most modern fleet of purpose built RoRo and multipurpose RoRo vessels in the world. It has made a point to remain at the forefront of maritime technology with 11 new vessels commissioned during the 1986-1993 period and further 21 vessels ordered to the end of 2001. All Grimaldi’s multipurpose vessels have been built to accommodate a wide range of cargoes with project capability up to 250mt and 6.5m high, together with up to 1300 containers, rolling cargoes and cars.

The latest additions to the fleet have enabled the company to offer improved frequency in all trades and remain a highly competitive service provider for clients worldwide.

Furthermore, integrated transportation services, combining sea and land transport, are being developed. In the course of the last few years the Group has built up a network of large port terminals in North Europe , UK ,  Scandinavia and the Mediterranean . At the same time plans are being developed to expand facilities for sea/truck combined transport to reduce transit times and provide a fast and efficient service to customers, who increasingly prefer to outsource transportation services. These developments are supported throughout Europe , West Africa and South America by a combination of wholly owned local offices and independent agencies.

Grimaldi runs also its own port terminals in the harbours of Antwerp , Cork , Esbjerg , Monfalcone. Palermo, Salerno and Valencia.

In joint venture with local partners Grimaldi distribute new cars to the dealers in Benelux . Denmark , Ireland , Italy , Portugal and Spain .

QUALITY & SAFETY

Grimaldi Naples was the first Italian shipping company to obtain the ISO 9002 Quality Certificate, and holds also ISO 14001 certificate (environment and ecology)

Grimaldi was the first European carrier to receive the Q1 award from Ford Motor Company, and in year 2000 was named Supplier of the Year by General Motors.

All Grimaldi vessels are S.M.S. (Safety Management System) certified.
